Senior Training Developer – Richmond, VA – Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Senior Training Developer is responsible for efficient and effective development, maintenance and delivery of content-specific curriculums.  This individual will work closely with subject matter experts to assure course content and delivery meets the needs of targeted audiences.  This senior level developer lends technical expertise to other developers for all aspects of curriculum design and delivery.  Additionally, this team member contributes to improving the processes and infrastructure of the department.  Skilled in facilitation and interpersonal communication, this team member also consistently demonstrates solid organizational skills, time management, and professionalism.
      

DUTIES (included but not limited to):

 
  • Conduct an annual (or as needed) education needs assessment as input to the strategic education program
  • Recommend to leaders the most cost effective method for training based on the topic and audience
  • Learn new concepts, content, and processes quickly and turn knowledge into effective training programs and materials
  • Develop content, deliver and support training initiatives for various groups using a variety of delivery methods including classroom-based, 1:1, self-instructional materials, job aids, virtual classroom, and webinars/web events
  • Apply adult learning concepts in program content and delivery
  • Write scripts for voiceover and video production to support distance learning initiatives
  • Research and promote the use of best practices for effective learning design in a virtual classroom environment; provide expertise to support other developers
  • Utilize desktop publishing and graphics packages, simulation software, and audio/visual technology, where appropriate, to produce professional and effective training materials
  • Recommend improvements to templates and standards for consistent course development and delivery (e.g. instructor evaluation processes, standard course content, development methodologies)
  • Support departmental leaders in researching and assessing new training products, techniques, platforms, and services
  • Demonstrate professional and appropriate interpersonal communication with staff of all levels
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to assure course content and delivery models meet the needs of targeted audiences; analyze and report on training effectiveness; recommend and integrate training improvement strategies based on findings
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while adhering to deadlines
  • Provide expertise and assistance to instructors, team members, and other locations, as needed
  • Ensure completion of all training administration activities associated with training delivery; provide training reports to leaders, as needed
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Functional Knowledge – General understanding and knowledge of hospital operations, adult learning principles and instructional design/development techniques, including distance learning
  • Organization - proactively prioritizes needs and effectively manages timelines and resources
  • Stress Tolerance - maintaining stable performance under pressure or opposition (such as time pressure or job ambiguity); handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and the organization
  • Learning Strategies -   Working knowledge and application of learning sciences, adult learning principles, education delivery methodologies and evaluation
  • Learning Technologies – Advanced working knowledge and application of learning technologies to support education development and implementation.  Including learning management systems, virtual classroom delivery tools and education development software: Captivate, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, screen capture, and audio/video technology.   

Job Requirements




EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Learning Sciences
  • Equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement




EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience required in content design and development and training delivery
  • 2 years of experience in content development for virtual classroom delivery
