Pre-Registration Coordinator - Richmond, VA – Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY 
 
The Pre-Registration Coordinator is responsible for timely and accurate pre-registration and insurance verification.


DUTIES (including but not limited to):
  • Perform pre-registration and insurance verification 3-5 days prior to date of service for both inpatient and outpatient services
  • Contact patient via phone to confirm or obtain missing demographic and insurance information, and instruct patient on where to present at time of appointment
  • Assign Insurance Plans (iPlan's) accurately and interpret benefits for patients
  • Perform electronic eligibility confirmation when applicable and document results
  • Calculate patient financial liability and be prepared to collect via phone or make payment arrangement

  • Communication – Clear and concise verbal and written communication. This includes utilizing proper punctuation, correct spelling & grammar, and the ability to transcribe accurately
  • Customer Orientation - Establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships; builds trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations
  • Interpersonal Skills - Able to work effectively with other employees, patients and external parties
  • PC Skills - Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to navigate multiple systems
  • Policies & Procedures - Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems
  • asic Skills - Demonstrates ability to organize, perform and track multiple tasks accurately in short timeframes; have ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple demands; ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player; adaptability; analytical and problem solving ability; attention to detail; able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • One year of related experience is required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and typing
  • Strong communication skills are strongly preferred, both written and verbal
  • Customer service and patient-focused candidate strongly preferred
  • Willingness to communicate and review financial expectations and responsibilities with patients strongly preferred
