Insurance Pre-Certification Team Lead – Richmond, VA – Full-Time

SUMMARY:
The PTAC Central Unit Team Lead (PreCertification) is responsible for assisting the PTAC Central Unit Manager (PreCertification) in the areas of precertification/authorization, including coordination of staff activities and assisting in daily task performance for all assigned areas.
 
DUTIES (included but not limited to):
  • Assist with new hire and on-going training and communication for the PTAC Central Unit (PreCertification) staff.
  • Assist with performance evaluations for PTAC Central Unit (PreCertification) employees.
  • Perform verification of precertification/authorization in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
  • Document precertification/authorization verification within designated health information systems.
  • Contact the appropriate hospital, department and/or insurance company, to resolve issues regarding authorizations or precertifications.
  • Update Insurance Plans appropriately.
  • Utilize appropriate communication system to facilitate interaction with facility registration teams and other departments as required.
  • Meets with the PTAC Central Unit Manager (PreCertification) regularly to effectively communicate and resolve issues, set and prioritize goals, improve processes and review productivity.
  • Assists with staff communication, providing updates, resolving issues, setting goals and maintaining standards.
  • Assist PTAC Central Unit Manager (PreCertification) in maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, patient, and customer service policies.
  • Perform quality reviews as required by policy.
  • Maintain open and professional communication while acting in the capacity of a liaison between team members, facility staff members, and external departments.
  • Assist with payroll activities for team members (i.e., time cards)
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Basic skills - demonstrates ability to organize, perform and track multiple tasks accurately in short timeframes, have ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment while managing multiple demands, ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player, adaptability, analytical and problem solving ability and attention to detail and able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION:
  • High School diploma or GED required
     
    EXPERIENCE:
  • At least one year of related experience required
  • Supervisory experience preferred
