Job Summary
The Financial Analyst-in-Training role is an entry level position at the Medicare Service Center (MSC) that provides financial and operational analytical support to MSC leadership.  The purpose of the role is to develop the analyst through a curriculum-based approach around the technical and analytical skills needed to support the operational departments at the MSC. 
Financial Analysis Manager
Duties (included but not limited to):
  • Complete the FA-In-Training program within the designated timeline.
  • Learn to identify trends and how to work closely with MSC departments to assess and report on performance.
  • Identify and coordinates scheduled and ad hoc analysis requests across all MSC operational units
  • Assists in the development of financial data collection and measurement tools within the MSC.
  • Willingness to learn new strategies and practices to enhance reporting and analysis.
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Interact with department leaders to understand their reporting needs, including the identification of critical metrics and KPIs

  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic computer skills
    • Functional understanding of Microsoft Excel, Access, and other programs in the Office Suite
    • Functional understanding of relational databases (experience in MSSQL, Teradata, DB2, and other query languages is preferred)

  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize reporting needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems
  • Emphasis on customer-centric culture in line with a self-service mentality

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other Business‐related field, required.  Preferred advanced degrees in these areas.
  • Equivalent work experience may substitute degree requirement

  • 1-2 years progressive accounting/finance experience required (experience in healthcare revenue cycle preferred).
