Job Description

Job Summary – The Financial Analyst II provides financial and operational analytical support to the Medicare Service Center (MSC) leadership.  The primary responsibilities of the role are to identify key trends and exception drivers that impact the MSC’s performance and workflows.  The Financial Analyst II will be expected to develop reporting, via dashboards and ad hoc analysis, to expose those exceptions and track them against key performance indicators over time.

Duties (included but not limited to):
  • Works closely with organizational leadership to assess and report on performance and trends.
  • Coordinates scheduled and ad hoc analysis requests across all MSC operational units
  • Assists in the development of financial data collection and measurement tools within the MSC.
  • Proactively review and provide data analysis and financial impact assessments to support MSC operations
  • Prepares Monthly Operating Reviews for senior leadership.
  • Prepares variance analysis for accounts receivable and net revenue performance.
  • Work with departmental leadership to ensure AR is properly stated at month end.
  • Creates and supports exception‐based report generation for all departments.
  • Assist in translating business reporting requirements to development staff.
  • Assist FA Manager in gathering information to improve MSC departmental efficiency and performance.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of hospital revenue cycle operations and technologies
  • Willingness to serve as a mentor to teammates and culture an atmosphere of learning and development

    • Interact with department leaders to understand their reporting needs, including the identification of critical metrics and KPIs

  • Visualization Skills:
    • Experience in executive dashboard creation that provide insight into operational efficiency
    • Develop rich interactive visualizations which provide instant and clear status updates
    • Ability to translate questions or ad hoc requests into a visualization that meets the requests requirements

  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and other programs in the Office Suite
    • 2 years of experience and proficiency in MSSQL, Teradata, DB2, and other query languages is preferred
    • Experience with SAP Business Objects is preferred
    • 2 years of experience with Tableau, MicroStrategies, Qlikview or other data visualization softwares. Site Administer experience is preferred.
    • Able to prepare dashboards in Tableau, MicroStrategies, Qlikview, etc using calculated fields, parameters, and multiple data sources

  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize organizational needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems
  • Emphasis on customer-centric culture in line with a self-service mentality

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other Business‐related field, required.  Preferred advanced degrees in these areas.
  • Equivalent work experience may substitute degree requirement

  • 3-4 years progressive accounting/finance experience required, preferably in healthcare revenue cycle preferred.
