Job Title: Electronic Data Interchange Financial Analyst 


Job Summary – The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Financial Analyst is responsible for applying a fundamental knowledge of healthcare billing practices and procedures related to identifying and performing root cause analysis to resolve claim issues, performing claims review, monitoring and resolving issue tracking tickets, creating and executing reports, working assigned inventory, and assisting managers or staff as needed. Additionally, this team member contributes to improving the processes and infrastructure of the department. Proficient in facilitation and interpersonal communication, this team member also consistently demonstrates skills in organization, prioritization, and professionalism.

Supervises – None 

Duties (included but not limited to)
 Resolve assigned inventory and issues, follow-up on outstanding issues, and escalate as needed 
 Proactively review and provide data analysis and financial impact assessment  Create, schedule, and run reports and queries for monitoring billing performance 
 Work directly with payors to resolve outstanding issues 
 Create and execute processes to systematically update specific fields on claims 
 Identify and communicate to management educational opportunities 
 Collaborate with other departments to resolve enrollment or claim issues 
 Monitor defined reports and coordinate with applicable departments to ensure accounts receivable is properly stated 
 Complete special projects as assigned by management 
 Maintain working knowledge of workflow, systems, and tools used in the department 
 Support EDI department as needed 
 Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement” 
 Other duties as assigned

Education 
High school diploma or GED required 

Experience - Minimum one year related healthcare experience required, such as enrollment for electronic claims submission, remittance, money transfers, professional electronic medical billing through clearinghouse, paper medical billing, insurance follow-up, and medical payment posting. Prior experience reading and interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOB) preferred.Writes reports from systems such as: microstrategies, SQL, Acuity, etc. Analyze reports, provide feedback and identify issues.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions– Requires prolonged sitting/standing, some bending, stooping, walking and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports or other information. Requires lifting papers/boxes and pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in an office environment or hospital setting. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
