Job Description

Job Summary – The Collections Director is responsible for daily operations of all collection functions. The Director interprets policies and procedures, recommends changes as appropriate, and provides relevant feedback to SSC leadership. In this leadership role, this person also serves as a key promoter of the SSC as a service organization which strives to meet and exceed the needs of its customers.

Supervises Collections Manager, Team Lead, Analyst, Collector, High Dollar Collector and Clerk
 
Duties (included but not limited to):
  • Oversees SSC operations of all Collections functions such as monitoring third party accounts receivable, account follow-up, account resolution, AR reconciliation, IPLAN changes, releasing balance to patients, insurance settlements and maintaining the Artiva master files.
  • Process Artiva Master File updates or pool changes as needed .
  • Timely Review of high dollar accounts and appropriate escalation as needed.
  • Provide guidance to the Collections management team and other SSC Directors to resolve internal and external issues.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Collections area.
  • Participate in payer, SPA and Division calls/meetings.
  • Perform AR analysis including preparation and escalation of Payer packages for claim resolution.
  • Participate in Division/Facility/SSC monthly Operation reviews on a routine basis including any needed preparation.
  • Inform SSC Back Office COO of any significant issues in the Collections area (i.e. payer issues, etc.)
  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and company compliance policies, ensuring timely staff education
  • Inform Collections Management and staff regarding payer requirement, significant changes and developments
  • Review Collections performance to ensure timeliness, accuracy, compliance, standards fulfillment as defined in the SSC Service Level Agreements.
  • Complete monthly trending analysis and other reports related to SSC Collections performance.
  • Coordinate and promote implementation and monitoring of standard masterfiles, processes, reporting and education programs
  • Follow overall market trends and communicate significant shifts to SSC leadership and others as appropriate
  • Oversee management of Collections personnel, providing recommendations for hiring, promotion, salary adjustments, and personnel action where appropriate
  • Monitor trends and communicate significant shifts in market or operating conditions to SSC and facility leadership
  • Support Parallon Business Performance Group in company-wide initiatives such as the development of operational models and education programs.
  • Establish controls and review mechanism for SSC Collection policies and procedures.
  • Develop specific objectives, budgets and performance standards for each area of responsibility
  • Identify and implement process improvements to lower cost and improve services to facility customers
  • Assume a lead role for innovation, knowledge sharing and leading practices identification within the SSC and among peer groups.
  • Prepare staff review and prepare performance document for direct reports
  • Understands Revenue Cycle operations and technologies currently in place.
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”

Job Requirements

Technical Expertise – Some understanding of healthcare including knowledge of healthcare terms and accounts receivable processes

Spell correctly and transcribe accurately.
 
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field required.
 
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years healthcare management experience with three of these years in the related area for the position. Relevant education may substitute experience requirement with SSC Executive approval.
